A MYSTERY PARTY Mystery trips are fun and very popular among
the kids of today. This type of party is
usually planned by the parents, sponsors of a
youth club or church group, or a few
members of a neighborhood and is kept secret
from the young people until they
arrive at a designated place for the party.
If you are planning this party for a youth
club or church group, you can make use of a
Mystery Man. Here's THE PLAN::
For those of you in groups, several weeks before
the party, allow the kids to make suggestions
as to where they'd like to go. Even parents
can do this! Determine where
you want to take the young people...some suggestions:
the zoo, the beach, for a
sleigh-ride, an amusement park. Then YOU decide the
destination.
FOR GROUPS:
Several weeks before the party, announce that a Mystery Man will
appear at one of the meetings. No one
knows just which one! Make sure your Mystery
Man wears a mask and some clothing that will
hide his identity.And he will come during
the first five minutes of the meeting to pass
out tickets for the Mystery Party. Only those
who are actually in attendance when the Mystery
Man arrives will get a ticket which
entitles them to make the trip. If the
kids would like to bring a friend along, give them a
ticket marked "GUEST" for each of the
friends they which to invite. RULING: Don't
allow anyone without a ticket to make the
trip. Make sure you stand by your resolve
that only those with tickets will be allowed to
take the trip.
POSTER: At the same
time you announce about the coming of the Mystery Man,
put up a poster. The poster can feature
an old car traveling down a road....captioned
with:
MYSTERY
PARTY!
TIME:
I don't know!
PLACE:
Wait and see!
TICKETS
REQUIRED.
To assure real success for this outing, make
sure the place you take the kids is some-
where they really want to go, but at the same
time is not a place that has become too
common for them. The suggestions offered
by the kids themselves will help you decide
on your destination. Have a sign on
your car,van, or whatever you are going to travel
in that reads something like this:
MYSTERY BUS(CAR, VAN)...DESTINATION
UNKNOWN!
Plan a time of refreshements at sometime
during your outing. For those of you with groups,
perhaps you can arrange to meet another group
at the destination!
